GRACIELA E. GARZA
August 31, 1925 – May 27, 2025
Graciela E. Garza, 99, passed away peacefully in her home in Boerne, TX, on May 27, 2025. Graciela was born and raised in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. At 18 she moved to Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas when she got married. In 1953, she emigrated to the United States, Laredo, Texas, and eventually became an American citizen in 1980. She stayed in Laredo for most of her life, moving to Boerne, Texas, in June 2020.
Graciela was known for her gentle spirit, generous heart, deep love of family and her unwavering faith. She was always a wise teacher and counselor to those who would listen to her advice and guidance. She shared her knowledge and experiences of how to have a happy and healthy family. With a select few, she shared her recipes for mole, menudo, buñuelos and tamales.
And while Graciela came from humble beginnings, she gave to those less fortunate through her parish at Mother Cabrini. She was blessed to travel throughout the United States and parts of Europe. She was able to attend mass in Fatima, Lourdes, Assisi, and many other holy places. She had a papal audience, with Pope John Paul II, in 2002.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe Espinoza and Maria Bruna Gonzalez; her siblings, Jorge Espinoza, Felipe Espinoza, Virgilio Espinoza, Virginia Espinoza, Velia Montemayor, and Sergio Espinoza 1; and her beloved husband, Jesus Garza.
Her memory will be lovingly cherished by all who knew her, including her brother, Sergio Espinoza; her children: Guadalupe G. (Francisco) Carranco, Pablo Jesus (Laura D.) Garza, Graciela G. (Oswaldo †) Cetina, Luis A. (Zonia G.) Garza, Leticia Snyder, Patricia (Michael A.) Argais, Eduardo (Melissa) Garza, twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, her youngest brother Sergio Espinoza of Laredo, TX., her family in Mexico, Chicago and elsewhere, and many friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday evening, June 1, 2025 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday morning, June 2, 2025 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Mother Cabrini Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Luis A. Garza, David R. Garza, Eduardo J. Garza, Juan Pablo Garza, Francisco Carranco, III and Joseph Garza.
Honorary pallbearer: Pablo J. Garza
