Gloria Alicia Santos, a beloved wife, mother, cherished grandmother, devoted educator, and faithful servant, peacefully passed away on December 5, 2023, at the age of 65. Born on April 17, 1958, Gloria's life was a testament to love, compassion, and unwavering faith.

 

Throughout her remarkable journey, Gloria dedicated 33 years of her life to the students of Christen Middle School of LISD, shaping young minds with her wisdom and nurturing their potential. Her dedication to education left an indelible mark on countless lives and will be remembered as a true testament to her passion for knowledge.

 

In addition to being an exceptional educator, Gloria was a devout Catholic who found solace in her faith. She served as a Eucharist Minister and Lector at Christ the King Catholic Church, where her voice echoed through the sanctuary with grace and conviction. Gloria's unwavering commitment to her religious duties exemplified her deep spirituality and desire to spread God's love to all.

 

Known for her loving and caring nature, Gloria's greatest joy in life came from her role as a grandmother. Her grandchildren held a sacred place in her heart, and she delighted in every moment spent with them. Gloria's love enveloped them, leaving lasting memories that will be cherished for generations to come.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leopoldo and Ninfa Benavides.

 

Gloria's unwavering faith, kind-hearted nature, and deep love for her family touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 41 years of marriage, Gregorio Santos, Jr., her daughters, Maria Luisa (Jose) Mendoza, Kimberly (Cesario) Morales; 4 grandchildren, Alicia Sarahi Barrera, Anna Karen Barrera, Cristian James Morales, Dominic Mendoza; sisters, Rosa (Jose) Perez, Maria Imelda (Rito †) Santos, Ana Cristina (Roy) Velasquez; brothers, Rafael (Teresita) Benavides, and Leopoldo (Gloria) Benavides, Jr.  She is also survived by numerous other loving relatives and friends.

 

As we celebrate the life of Gloria Alicia Santos, we are reminded of the profound impact one person can have on the lives of others. Her dedications as an educator, her devotion as a Catholic, and her love as a grandmother will remain forever etched in our hearts.

 

The family will be receiving condolences on Friday morning, December 8, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez.

 

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday morning, December 8, 2023, departing at 10:40 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to Christ the King Catholic Church for a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m.

 

Pallbearer will be: Rito Joshua Santos.

 

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Rafael Benavides, Leopoldo Benavides III, Cesario Morales, Jr., Jose Mendoza, and Jesus Barrera.
