It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gloria I. Garza, who departed this life on August 23, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on May 13, 1953, Gloria dedicated herself to nurturing the minds and hearts of young students for over three decades as a beloved teacher at Farias Elementary School. Her commitment to education and her passion for teaching left an indelible mark on countless lives, illustrating her profound belief in the power of knowledge and community. 

Gloria's zest for life was evident to all who knew her. Those who knew her and loved her called her GG. A spirited traveler, she embraced new experiences and adventures, always seeking to enrich her understanding of the world. Among her cherished pastimes, attending the WBCA parade brought her immense joy, emblematic of her love for celebration and connection. 

As the favorite aunt, Gloria cultivated a special bond with her nieces and nephews, and she taught them to live life to the fullest, because she lived life that way. She was fearless, adventurous, fun, and so giving.

Gloria will always be remembered for her ability to bring family together, creating unforgettable moments during celebrations and gatherings. Her kindness, warmth, and sense of humor enriched the lives of those around her, and she will be deeply missed. She was loved and adored and truly left a legacy of love to all those that knew her. She was a true friend, creating many beautiful friendships throughout her life and everywhere she went.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosalio Garza Jr. and Antonieta Hernandez; brother, Fernando Garza; sister, Olga G. Martinez; and nephew, Patrick Garza.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Rosalio “Chalio” (Lydia) Garza III, Ernesto David Garza, Diana (Remigio “Mico”) Gonzalez; in-laws, Laura Garza, David I. Martinez; nieces and nephews, Adriana Garza, Fernando Garza, Richard (Sandra) Garza, Michael Garza, Elizabeth (John) Smith, Selina Garza, Cristina Garza, Cassandra (Frank) Allred, Rosalio David Garza, Diana Maria Gonzalez, Remigio “Mico” (Desiree) Gonzalez III; grandnephews and grandnieces, Daniel (Victoria) Lombrana, Robert Lombrana, Christopher Lombrana, Chloe Lombrana, Alexander Garza, Kassandra (Luis) Lopez, John Smith, Santiago Smith, Alejandra Valdez, Triana Ramirez, Karla Glorianna Hurtado; and her godson, Alexei Guevara; as well as numerous great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, and many lifelong friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday morning, September 6, 2025. The mass times remain pending. 

A private cremation will be held at a later date.
