With profound sadness and heartfelt love, we announce the passing of Gloria Patricia Gonzalez de Carranza, 78, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend, who entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in Laredo, Texas.

Born and raised in Laredo, Gloria will forever be remembered for her graceful elegance, loving and generous spirit, unwavering devotion to her family and friends, and heartfelt commitment to the charitable organizations closest to her heart. Her kindness, compassion, and generosity touched countless lives and remain a lasting testament to her beautiful legacy.

Gloria attended Ursuline Academy and graduated from Martin High School in 1965. She earned an art degree from Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. In 1969, at the age of 21, she married her first love, Juan Braulio Carranza Elizondo, from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, with whom she shared 57 wonderful years. Together in Nuevo Laredo, they built a beautiful life centered around family, love, and togetherness. Her sons were the heart of her world, and the close bond they shared brought her immense pride and joy. Their home was always filled with warmth, laughter, cherished traditions, and unforgettable memories created together.

Gloria took immense pride in her home and ranch, lovingly tending to both so they were always warm, welcoming havens for family and friends. Every Thanksgiving, she delighted in opening her doors to those she held dear, fostering a cherished tradition of wonderful food, laughter, and lasting memories. Her weekly canasta and mahjong games were a beloved ritual, bringing together dear friends and family for companionship, lively conversation, and spirited competition.

Travel was one of Gloria’s great passions. Alongside her beloved husband she journeyed to more than 55 countries, embracing each destination with a sense of wonder and adventure. She delighted in discovering new cultures, savoring unfamiliar foods, learning about the languages and experiencing unique traditions and beauty of each place they visited.

When not tending to her family, Gloria gave selflessly to favorite charitable organizations in her hometown of Nuevo Laredo. In 1997, she served as President of the Mesa Redonda Panamericana de Nuevo Laredo. Her legacy also lives on in the young women whose lives she touched through her devotion to Casa Hogar Enrique Tomas Lozano, where her compassion, generosity, and steadfast commitment brought hope and opportunity to those in her care. Through her selfless service, Gloria left an enduring imprint on countless lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio Gonzalez Jr. and Amelia Gutierrez de Gonzalez, and her sister, Viola Gonzalez de Cabrera.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Juan B. Carranza Elizondo; her sons, Juan Braulio Carranza Gonzalez (Patricia), Eduardo Javier Carranza Gonzalez (Aily), and Anselmo Guarneros Morales (Andrea); her siblings, Alicia (Reynaldo†) Rodriguez, Javier (Leonor) Gonzalez, Roberto (Carmen) Gonzalez, Aida (Raul†) Perales, and Jorge (Ella) Gonzalez; her grandchildren, Juan Braulio Carranza IV, Gisella Rose Carranza, Eduardo Jose Carranza and Victoria Carranza, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday afternoon, September 7, 2026 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Rosary will commence at 5 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday morning, September 8, 2026, departing at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m.
