Gilberto Ramos, 68, of Laredo, Texas, passed away on April 17, 2026. He was born on September 19, 1957, in Laredo, Texas, to Domingo and Maria Ramos.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Gilberto lived a life rooted in service, compassion, and devotion to both his family and his community. His faith guided his actions, shaped his character, and was evident in the way he cared for others throughout his life.
Gilberto began his career with the Webb County Fire Department before continuing his lifelong service with the Laredo Fire Department, where he dedicated 35 years as a firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician. Through his hard work and leadership, he rose to the rank of District Chief before retiring. He was widely respected for his courage, integrity, and unwavering commitment to serving others—qualities deeply grounded in his faith. In addition to his service in the fire department, Gilberto also worked with the Laredo Fire Department Credit Union for 40 years, where he made a lasting impact.
His devotion extended beyond his profession into his personal life and community involvement. He found joy in gardening and traveling with his wife, and he generously gave his time through service organizations and his church. He was actively involved in the Rotary Club from 2019 to 2023 and was a dedicated member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, participating in the “That Man Is You” ministry, where he strengthened his faith alongside others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Domingo and Maria Ramos.
He is survived by his loving wife, Clara Alicia Ramos; his daughters, Clarissa Ramos and Christina Ramirez (Omar, Mia, and Allie); his sons, Gilberto Ramos Jr. and Rene Carrillo; as well as his siblings and extended family.
