It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gilberto Guillen, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and esteemed veteran, who departed this life on May 1, 2026, at the age of 76. Gilberto was born on August 31, 1949, in Laredo, Texas and his life was marked by unwavering dedication and service, both to his family and his country. 

Gilberto proudly served in the United States Armed Forces as the rank of Specialist, where he achieved the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal, reflecting his commitment and valor as he completed the heavy vehicle driver training. He demonstrated exceptional skill and integrity throughout his tenure in the military.

After returning from military service, Gilberto devoted more than 45 years to Anzon America Inc. as a foreman, where he was recognized for his leadership, work ethic, and unwavering commitment to his profession. His legacy of hard work and dedication will be cherished by those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

He is preceded in death by his son, Gilberto Guillen, Jr.; his granddaughter, Julia Faith Sanchez; his parents, Guadalupe and Felipa Guillen; his siblings, Florencia Carrazco, Mary Morio, Guadalupe Guillen, Jr., and Araceli Guillen.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Paulina Guillen; his children, Araceli Guillen Ramos, Rosie Guillen (Ricardo) Garza, Terry Guillen, Monica (Gabriel) Rios, Rocio (Benito) Urbina, and Lupita Guillen (Roque Vasquez); 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rosa Guillen, Narcedalia Long, Elva Gallardo, Felipa Guillen, and Margarita Segura; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Tuesday evening, May 5, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday morning, May 6, 2026, departing at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Francisco Javier Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Laredo City Cemetery.

Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the American Legion Post 59.
