Galo Garcia, 81, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Monday, December 5, 2022.

 

Galo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. “Papa”, as he was affectionately known to his grandkids, was a businessman, rancher, and entrepreneur. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent countless hours at the ranch. Galo loved giving back to the community. He was active with the South Texas Food Bank, Sacred Heart Children’s Home as well as numerous local community organizations. Galo attended Peacock Military High School and later attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. He was a history buff and a great story teller. Galo was very generous and disciplined man. He will be deeply missed by all those who loved and knew him.

 

He was preceded in passing by: his parents, Salvador and Maria Blanca Gutierrez Garcia; and his nephew, Sergio R.  Garcia, Jr.

 

Left to cherish his memory are: his loving wife, Norma Mejia Garcia; children, Miguel A. (Gloria) Villarreal, Carlos Roberto Villarreal, Jr., Galo (Christina) Garcia, Jr., and Enrique Salvador (Betina) Garcia; grandchildren, Alberto C. Villarreal, Aden M. Villarreal, Kendra A. Garcia, and Ana Estela Garcia; and siblings, Sergio R. (Sylvia) Garcia, Salvador (Wanda) Garcia, Jr., and Oralia (Alvin) Byrd; as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

 

The family will be receiving condolences on Thursday evening, December 8, 2022 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

 

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday morning, December 9, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Everyone attending is encouraged to please meet at church.

 

Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 59.

 

Private Cremation Services will be held at a later date.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you consider making a donation to: Sacred Heart Children’s Home or South Texas Food Bank.

 

Pallbearers will be: Miguel A. (Gloria) Villarreal, Carlos Roberto Villarreal, Jr., Galo (Christina) Garcia, Jr., Enrique Salvador (Betina) Garcia, Zachary Garcia, and Justin Jacaman.
