Ernestina G. Treviño, 85, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Ernestina G. Treviño was the third of twelve children born to Jose B. and Elvira G. Gonzalez. From an early age, she embodied the values of education, dedication, and strong family principles, qualities that inspired many including her relatives to pursue careers in education and service to others.

Mrs. Treviño graduated from Martin High School before earning her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Texas Woman’s University. She later obtained her Master’s degree in Bilingual Education from Texas A& I University at Laredo, reflecting her lifelong commitment to learning and to empowering future generations.

Her distinguished career in education spanned more than thirty-seven years, beginning at Don Tomas Sanchez Elementary School. Throughout her years of service, she also taught at F. Farias Elementary School, Hermelinda Ochoa Elementary School, and Honore Ligarde Elementary School. Mrs. Treviño will always be remembered and deeply respected for her unwavering dedication to her students. Through her passion and guidance, she enriched countless lives and helped shape students who became community leaders. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched.

Ernestina’s strength, love, and honesty were evident to all who knew her. These qualities continue to shine through the many people she influenced. We are profoundly blessed to have called her daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, friend, and teacher. She was truly a light among us, and her brilliance will remain in our hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pedro Treviño, Jr.; her son, Gerardo Rene Treviño; her parents, Jose B. Gonzalez and Elvira Gutierrez; her siblings, Jose Manuel Gonzalez and Maria Lydia Garza; her niece and nephews; Kristina Renee Gonzalez Guerra, Peter Villanueva, and Ricardo Daniel Garza; her sisters-in-law, Mary Gonzalez, and Dorothy Gonzalez; brothers-in-law, Emilio Garza, Felix Villanueva, and Alberto Treviño.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Oscar Gilberto (Sara Alicia) Treviño, and Pedro (Irma Yvonne) Treviño, III.; her grandchildren, Jose Pedro Treviño, Arianna Natali (Eduardo) Treviño, Gerardo Oscar Treviño, Alejandro Gilberto Treviño, Traci Yvonne (Mattheuw) Rodriguez, Pedro Rene (Stephanie Mayte) Treviño; her great-grandchildren, Ines Treviño, Sienna Treviño, Mattheuw Ryan Rodriguez, James Aaron Rodriguez, Thomas Jack Rodriguez, and Pedro Xavian Treviño; her siblings, Gilberto Gonzalez, Antonio (Graciela) Gonzalez, Candelario (Margarita) Gonzalez, San Juana (Rudy) Guajardo, Elvira Gonzalez, Adela (Rogelio) Garay, Graciela (Oscar) Chavez, Rosa Alicia Gonzalez, and Diana Elizabeth Gonzalez; her sisters-in-law, Belia Villanueva, and Carmen Treviño; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Wednesday evening, February 11, 2026 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday morning, February 12, 2026 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
