It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elena M. Salinas, who left this world on December 9, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on March 17, 1933, in Mexico, Elena was a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, whose love and dedication nurtured her family and enriched the lives of all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by Antonio Salinas, her parents: Octaviano Mata and Angelina Garza; her son, Juan Antonio Salinas; her grandchildren: Fernando Carlos Salinas, Andres Felix Salinas, and Victoria Arlene Salinas; as well as her brothers: Ovidio Mata and Osiel Mata. Elena is survived by her loving children: Manfredo (Fernanda) Salinas, Maria Dolores Salinas, Esteban Salinas, Bernardo (Magdalena) Salinas, Guadalupe (James) Watson, Eduviges Salinas, Domingo (Elsa) Salinas, Ramon (Adriana) Salinas, and Berta (Henry) Flores. She was a proud grandmother to 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her legacy in their hearts. She is also survived by her siblings, Octaviano Mata and Mirthala Salinas.
The family will be receiving condolences on Friday evening, December 19, 2025 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday morning, December 20, 2025 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Luis Rey Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Manfredo Salinas Jr., Mauricio Salinas, Victor Salinas, Joshua Alvarado, Bernardo Salinas Jr., Braulio Salinas, John Antonio Watson, Matthew Salinas, Cody Salinas, Mike Flores, and Henry Flores.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Manfredo Salinas, Esteban Salinas, Bernardo Salinas, Domingo Salinas, Ramon Salinas, and James Watson.
The family would like to give thanks to Our Lord Jesus Christ for Elena’s 92 years of life.
