With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Dora Dimas on May 7, 2025. Born on July 27, 1936, Dora lived a vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.
A dedicated daughter of God, Dora was a deeply devout Catholic, attending Mass every day at Holy Redeemer. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through both the sacred and the everyday. She found joy in nurturing her plants, diligently watering them while humming a tune, displaying her innate love for music and all living things.
Dora dedicated 50 years of her life to the medical field, serving as a surgical technician for 25 years at Mercy Hospital and another 25 years at Doctors Hospital in Labor and Delivery. Known as the neighborhood nurse, she was a beacon of hope and care for many, always ready to lend a helping hand and offer wise counsel. Her outgoing personality lit up the lives of those around her; she was the life of the party at the La Ladrillera Senior Center, known for her infectious laughter and love for dancing. She was a treasured mother who cherished her grandchildren, Dora was also blessed with a 75-year friendship with her lifelong friend, Elia Solis, known affectionately as her best friend. Their shared memories and laughter brought joy and comfort throughout their years together.
As we gather to celebrate the life of this remarkable woman, we remember her warmth, her kindness, and her indomitable spirit. Dora touched the lives of many, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
We welcome all to share in this moment of remembrance, honoring a woman who embodied compassion, joy, and an unwavering love for family and community. As we bid farewell, let us hold her memory dear and celebrate the rich tapestry of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Carlos Dimas; parents, Francisco and Hermila Flores; and siblings; Enedina Santos, Victor Flores, Pasqual Flores, Francisco Flores, Amelia Chavez, Gloria Goya Reyes, Evangelina Contreras and Enrique Flores.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Dora Alicia (Antonio) Colunga, Carlos G. (Esmeralda) Dimas, Arturo (Eliza) Dimas and Araceli Dimas. Grandchildren: Brittney Ann (EJ) Saavedra, Carlos Gerardo Dimas Jr., Karla Alexis (Wesley Wheeler) Dimas, Lisa Denize (Servando) Pena, Darian Dayye (Rubi Zasha) Dimas, Keanna Francine (Evers Gutierrez) Panko, Carlos Cristian (Katelyn Sandoval) Colunga and Patrick Nicolas Guerra. Her Great-granddaughter, Isabelle Maria Saavedra, her longtime beloved friend, Arnulfo Garza. as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Monday evening, May 12, 2025 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday morning, May 13, 2025 departing at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
