Diana B. Solis

April 11, 1943 — April 9, 2026

Laredo, Texas

It is with profound sadness — and with hearts full of love — that we announce the passing of Diana B. Solis, cherished mother, grandmother, and aunt, who left us on April 9, 2026, just two days shy of her 83rd birthday. Born and raised in Laredo, Texas, Diana lived a life rooted in faith, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.

Diana approached life with spirited candor and a deep sense of conviction. She was known for telling it as it was, advocating fiercely for those she loved, and offering wisdom that was honest and steadfast. Her laughter — rich, unmistakable, and contagious — began deep in her belly, crinkled at the bridge of her nose, and had a way of filling every room and drawing everyone in around her.

Her Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. She prayed the rosary daily, made faithful visits to the adoration chapel, and lived her devotion quietly but fully — through her generosity to Bethany House, ardent support of Catholic education in Laredo, and philanthropic contributions to various charities she held close to her heart. Diana also held active memberships in the Society of Martha Washington, Women's City Club, and numerous cherished birthday clubs. She taught those around her that the true measure of a life is how much of it you give away.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Manuel Solis; parents, Servando Benavides Jr. and Dolores V. Benavides; brother, Servando Benavides III; and sister, Dolores B. de la Garza.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Diana Lowry (Albert), Patricia Garcia (Jaime), Monica Ruiz (Jesus), and Lourdes Raney (John); grandchildren: Carolina Lamar Garcia, Isabella Magali Garcia, Victoria Eugenia Espenship (Michael), Alexandria Yvanna Ruiz, Lourdes Kristina Hoang (Steven), and John Matthew Raney; nieces and nephews: Toni Ruiz, Tita Laurel, Stacey Strittmatter, Katherine Houlton, Maria de la Paz Quintanilla Ramos, Ivan and Orfelio Quintanilla; sisters-in-law: Maria De La Paz Quintanilla and Olga S. (Col. Michael) Buck; as well as numerous other relatives and beloved friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday morning, April 23, 2026, at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, starting at 8:30 a.m. A Rosary will be offered at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Thereafter, Diana will be laid to rest during a Rite of Committal and Inurnment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

A celebration of Diana’s life will be hosted at the Laredo Country Club from 1 pm to 4 p.m.

The family gratefully acknowledges the fervent support of Dr. Dennis Cantu, Dr. Efren Moreno, Altus Hospice, and all her devoted caretakers – Tonie Barrera, Nina Gutierrez, Miriam Cisneros, Yesenia Ramirez, Orfa Lozano, and Rosario Velasquez.
