September 16, 1963 – June 28, 2025

Debra Marie Burt, 61, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

She served in the Navy for 9½ years and truly loved to travel. Over the years, she visited all 48 of the contiguous United States, always eager to explore national monuments, national parks, and state parks. She had a deep appreciation for history, especially the era of the American Revolution.

She was never without a travel buddy whether it was her children, nieces and nephews, or her grandchild, she always made sure adventures were shared. Together they explored parks, went to baseball games, museums, zoos, aquariums, and concerts both classical music and classic rock. She especially adored her one and only grandson, who was often by her side on many of these journeys.

She was always on the move, always doing something. Whether it was Diamond Dotz, crochet, paint-by-numbers, rosary making, or planning her next road trip, she never sat still for long.

She had a heart for service and was always the first to show up when someone needed help. If there was a disaster, she’d be one of the first out the door to see who needed assistance. If a neighbor couldn’t make it to an emergency food pickup, she went for them. After hurricanes or bad storms, she was there helping with the cleanup. Even while living in Kentucky, she’d drive all the way to Florida to help friends clean up after hurricanes. That’s just the kind of person she was always living life to her fullest ability.

She loved going geocaching with friends, often combining it with park clean-up parties. One time, in classic fashion, she made a 16-hour round trip to Foley, Alabama just to visit a friend and pick up the fixings for a Bloody Mary she liked. Eight hours there, two hours in town, and eight hours back why? Because she could, and because it made her happy.

Yeah, she was that person. The one who showed up, who made life an adventure, and who loved fiercely and fully.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Earl Burt Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lisa Marie Burt (Patrick Edward) Graham, and Robert Scott Burt; her grandson, Deacon Keneth Graham; mother, Phyllis Ann Culver; her siblings, Alan Reichle, Marry Ann Burt (Darrell) Hayward, Robert Earl (Heather) Burt, Jr.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

Celebration of life will be held later.
