Carmen Villarreal

Carmen Saavedra Villarreal, 87, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to be with the lord in heaven Thursday, Jan 20, 2011 at her home.

She was born on Nov 20, 1923 in Laredo, Texas to Mercedes Cardenas and Jose Saavedra.

Carmen began working at an early age to support her family. She was a dentist assistant for Dr. Wright and a nurse assistant in the nursery at Laredo Mercy Hospital.- She married Sergeant Bernardo Villarreal of the U. S. Air Force and the couple relocated to San Diego, California to raise their children. In 1983, she and her family moved back to establish permanent residency in their home town of Laredo, TX.

Carmen is preceded in death by her parents, Mercedes and Jose Saavedra; husband Bernardo Villarreal; brother Enrique Saavedra and sister Dora Saavedra Garza.

Carmen is survived by her sons; German Villarreal, Gerardo Villarreal, and Gilbert (Romalda) Villarreal; granddaughters Maria Eloisa Silva, Vanessa, and Kimberlee Villarreal; great-grandchildren, Juanito Rodriguez and Carla Santos, brother Jose Saavedra Jr., niece Cindy Garza, nephews Guillermo and Cesar Garza..
