CARMEN P. LOPEZ

December 28, 1933- July 27, 2022

Carmen P. Lopez was called home by our Heavenly Father at the age of 88 on Wednesday, July 27,2022.

Carmen was born in Biloxi, Mississippi to Vidal Pedraza and Rosario Robles Rico.   The family moved to the border area where Carmen met and married the love of her life, Daniel Lopez, and together raised 8 children.  Carmen also welcomed Daniel’s children to their home – Irma, Daniel (Tete†), Rosa, Ruben (†), Yolanda, and Maria del Carmen (Nena†).  Together they ran the family business, La Superior Bakery and Lopez Bakery.

Carmen was a passionate seamstress whose skills and talents were impeccable and exemplified in all her tailored creations.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends, “las comadres” and helping raise most of her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy.  Family gatherings and holidays were days she looked forward to and welcomed her children and extended family and friends to her home and received them with open arms and a warm meal from pastries to her delicious tamales.  She enjoyed traveling, especially to visit family and friends in Monterrey and in San Antonio, and when possible, to Las Vegas, as she was a fan of slot machines, “maquinitas”.  She also enjoyed music and dancing. She would sing along to all her favorite songs, especially those sung by Vicente Fernandez and Juan Gabriel.

Carmen instilled faith in all her children and grandchildren and taught them the importance of family.  Not only did she say it, but was an example of it by showing a great love to her parents and her brothers and sisters.  She enjoyed visiting them anytime she could and was always welcomed by all her family and friends.

A humble, faithful and loving woman, Carmen had a special heart and space for everyone she knew.  She will be greatly missed by all of us.

Rest in your Savior’s arms Mom. You fought the fight and ran the race and now you get the crown of righteousness.  Gracias Mami por tu amor eterno y tu cariño.  Fuiste y siempre seras una madre inolvidable.  Descansa en Paz.

She was preceded in death by her parents Vidal Pedraza and Rosario Robles Rico, siblings; Ernestina Gaytan, Angelica Friedrich (Klaus), Lucila Baez (Francisco), Salvador Sifuentes (Maria), Manuel Pedraza, and Rafael Pedraza (Isabel).

Left to cherish her memory are her children and grandchildren; Gerardo Lopez (Rosa†) – Ricardo, J.D., and David, Alma Escamilla (Emilio) – Emilio and Alma, Daniel Lopez (Rose) – Iris and Annabelle, Martha Pappas (James) – James, Jr., and George, Sandra L Lopez – Gregorio IV, Raymond, Rolando, Jennifer, and Claudia, Lorena Lily Ordaz (Luis) – Sasha Daniela, Raul Lopez (Nora), and Claudia Cristi Mitchell – David and Christopher, sister Dora Alicia Moreno, and brother Carlos Sifuentes (Marta†) and 25 great-grandchildren, 2 great- great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
