CARLOS TORRES SR.

January 26, 1936- October 25, 2022

Torres, Carlos, age 86, formerly of Laredo passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022. He attended Martin High School and during his senior year, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served in the U.S. Air Force 23 years. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, he joined the U. S. Postal Services as a postal clerk where he worked for 22 years. He was a very caring and devoted family man so he made the decision to retire and care for his loving wife who was ill and needed his full attention. After she passed in 2008, he then dedicated his time to his family and his love for music. He enjoyed attending family gatherings and spending quality time working around his yard and plants. Since he had so much love for music, he enjoyed his Friday music gatherings with his guitar buddies. He believed in discipline due to his military background therefore he devoted his time to always guiding and being there for all of his family members. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Maria Anita Torres, parents; Enrique and Berta Torres, brothers; Enrique Torres, Roberto Torres, Fernando Torres, and sister Berta Sonia Gutierrez.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; Elizabeth Ann Torres Guerrero, Carlos (Diana) Torres, Jr., Bertha Alice Torres, and Melinda (Antonio) Holguin, grandchildren; Krista Linn (Diego) Martinez, Bianka Maree (Nicolas) Caballero, Melannie Marie Holguin, Carlos Antonio Holguin, Brianna Marie Holguin, Valerie Torres, and Vanesa Zamora, great-grandchildren; Diego Sebastian Martinez, Derek Josiah Martinez, Kaylinn Elizabeth Martinez, Bella Mae Caballero, Nicolas Anthony Caballero, Jr., Melinda Lee Guzman, and Noel Lerma, brother Porfirio Hector (Irma) Torres, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Friday evening, October 28, 2022 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday morning, October 29, 2022 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Full Military Honors will be performed by American Legion Post 59. U.S. Air Force will be doing the Flag detail.

Pallbearers will be: Jay Jay Arriaga, Antonio Genaro Holguin, Diego Armando Martinez, Nicolas Anthony Caballero, Victor Dominguez, Matthew Guzman, Valerie Torres, Angel Espinoza

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Porfirio Hector Torres, Krista Linn Martinez, Bianka Maree Caballero, Melanie Marie Holguin, and Carlos Antonio Holguin
