BEATRIZ G. GARCIA
August 23, 1928- September 10, 2022
Beatriz (Bea) G. Garcia entered into eternal rest on September 10, 2022 at her home in Laredo, Texas surrounded by her family. She was born on August 23, 1928 to the late Jose Maria and Agapita Gutierrez.
Beatriz is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gustavo (Gus) G. Garcia and siblings; Ramona, Maria Luisa, Jesus, and Rodolfo Gutierrez.
Left to cherish Bea’s memories always are her children; Selma (Carmelo) Gonzalez, David (Ana Maria) Garcia, and Danny Garcia, grandchildren; Danny (Meli) Gonzalez, Melo (Clarissa) Gonzalez, Ceci Gonzalez, and Marissa Garcia, four beautiful great granddaughters; Alexia, Allison, Aria, and Lyanna Gonzalez, and sisters; Hilda (Luis) Lopez and Maria Antonietta Martinez, and numerous nephews and nieces. Her feline, ChaCha, was a big part of Bea’s life.
While attending Martin High School; Beatriz was a proud member of the T&S Club, Pep Squad, Petit Poetry, Journal and Edison Club, and founder of the Alegro Club. After graduating from Martin High School in 1946; Bea worked at Union National Bank where she met Gustavo. She later accepted a position as a Deputy Clerk with the U.S. Federal District Court and rose to become the Chief Clerk under Judge George P. Kazen until her retirement in 1994. Beatriz and Gustavo were involved with Guadalupe Catholic Church, were founding members of Holy Family Catholic Church and parishioners of San Martin de Porres. She along with Gustavo were members of NARFE, Mary Help of Christian PTA, and J.W. Nixon Spurs and Sports.
Beatriz together with Gus created a loving and devoted marriage for 67 years. They traveled and created many wonderful memories with family especially in Las Vegas, Santa Fe, and Disney Parks. Numerous reunions, parties and weekend gatherings were spent happily at their Casa Verde home, cooking, storytelling, listening to music and playing games. Many happy memories were also spent shopping with her daughter, daughter-in-law and granddaughters. She supported her daughter and son’s varied activities and their grandchildren’s sports, dance and cheerleading events. Holidays and birthdays were always celebrated surrounded by family.
Music was Beatriz’s passion whether it was playing the piano (self-taught), listening to classical music, or attending Broadway musicals and concerts. In her later years; she was an avid San Antonio Spurs fan and could not be interrupted during the game. Above all; God, family, and friends came first.
We will miss her love, patience, kindness, and magnetic personality. Beatriz was extremely proud of her family and of all their accomplishments.
