It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Arturo Medina Leal, 96, who left this world on June 18, 2026. A cherished member of our community and a dedicated U.S. Army Veteran, Arturo’s life was marked by his unwavering commitment to serving his country.
Arturo honorably served in the Korean War, where his bravery and valor were recognized with a Bronze Star, a testament to his courage and sacrifice during a pivotal time in our nation’s history. He embodied the values of dedication, honor, and resilience that define the spirit of the American soldier.
In addition to his military service, Arturo was a warm-hearted individual whose kindness touched all who had the privilege to know him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and respect, having built lasting relationships with family, friends, and those in his community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guillermo Leal and Manuela Medina, and his daughter, Graciela Leal.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years of marriage, Norma Dovalina Leal; his children, Angelina Leal (Bruce Moore) and Rosanne Leal (Samuel Jones Jr.); his grandchildren, Alfredo Fernando Garcia, Arturo Fernando Garcia, Priscilla Garcia, Christopher Moore, and Jessica Moore, and his great-grandson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Wednesday evening, June 24, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday morning, June 25, 2026, where a Chapel Service will commence at 10 a.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Laredo Veterans Honor Guard.
