Arnulfo Santos

Arnulfo "Fito" Santos, 84, entered into the kingdom of heaven early Wednesday morning, the 22nd of July 2015. Fito, as he was affectionately known, was educated in the Laredo public schools, having graduated from Martin High School in 1949 and became the proud owner of his family's local market, Alfredo Santos Grocery Store in 1950 which was nestled between Sanchez St. and Santa Maria Ave. He served as County Commissioner Pct. 4 from 1978 through 1994. He was also a Cursillista. He was an honorable, kind, and patient man who will be remembered for his generosity and dedication to his family whom he loved. He will forever remain in the hearts and minds of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elva B. Santos; parents, Alfredo and Maria Santos; and granddaughter, Liza I. Santos. Fito is survived by his loving children, Elva (Robert) Tatangelo, Arnulfo (Diana) Santos, Jr., Sylvia Santos, Armando (Kim) Santos, Magdalena Santos Viera, Jose (Jessica) Santos, Sara Santos, and Tere Santos; sisters, Carmen S. Morales and Maria S. Muoz; grandchildren, Omar (Anel) Reyna, Cristina (John) Wanger, Cindy (Alex) Ochoa, Melissa Santos, Rene E. Santos, Armando Santos, Jr., Michelle Husband, Ganesa (Patrick) Allen, Lorenzo A. Santos, and Joe (Olivia) Santos, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Joaquin Reyna, John M. Wanger, Evelina C. Wanger, Ava Bree Ochoa, Liza Viera, Luke Husband, Landyn Husband, Logan Allen, and Alessandra Santos; as well as by numerous loved relatives and friends. The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to all of the physicians & staff at LMC who provided excellent care and attention to Mr. Santos. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd. where a Rosary will commence at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday morning, July 24, 2015 departing at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Pallbearers will be: Arnulfo Santos, Jr., Jose Santos, Armando Santos, Jr., Omar Reyna, Joe Santos, Jr., Joaquin A. Reyna, Lucas Husband, and Alejandro Ochoa. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Robert Tatangelo, Dr. Carlos N. Hornedo, and Dr. Carlos Orces. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
