Amparo Cerón

May 22, 1960 — January 31, 2026

San Antonio, Texas

Amparo Cerón, 65, entered peacefully into eternal rest on January 31, 2026, surrounded by the profound love of the family she built and adored. A woman of grace and “una fe inquebrantable,” she lived her life as a living testament to her devotion to God and La Virgen de Guadalupe.

Amparo found her greatest strength in prayer and held a lifelong belief in the presence of angels. It was this unwavering faith that guided her through her final journey, a path she walked with immense bravery, dignity, and strength that inspired everyone who knew her. With the same courage that defined her, she comforted those she loved with the assurance that she was at peace, having lived a life overflowing with purpose, gratitude, and a beautiful 42-year marriage that resulted in her greatest treasure, her children.

Though she was a private woman, those within her inner circle knew her as the “Queen” of her household, a witty, fun-loving, and vibrant spirit who was the center of her family’s universe. Her home was her sanctuary. She found deep joy in the simple beauties of life: her garden in bloom, the vibrant colors of fresh flowers, and the loyal companionship of her beloved family pet, Chica.

Woven into her being was a deep and lifelong love for her parents and siblings, often recounting cherished stories of her upbringing to her own children, ensuring those family memories lived on through them. She particularly valued the long, meaningful conversations she shared with her sister, Rosa, whose bond remained a constant source of strength and comfort.

Amparo’s greatest pride and joy were her children: Natalie, Jazmine, and Hector. She dedicated her life to their happiness, celebrating every accomplishment with a mother’s fierce and protective love. Whether she was out shopping or sharing a cup of coffee with Natalie, enjoying a home-cooked meal prepared by Jazmine, or watching movies with Hector while they settled into their new home, she was happiest when they were all together. Amparo cherished the morning ritual of breakfast with her husband—moments spent in their longtime home in Laredo and later in their dream home in San Antonio, a sanctuary he worked tirelessly to perfect for her. Amparo is at the core of a lifetime of memories that her family will hold dear forever.

Recently retired from F.D. Roosevelt Elementary, where she served for over 25 years, Amparo cherished her students and dearly loved her fellow teachers and staff. It was this lifelong dedication to the classroom that inspired her daughter, Jazmine, to become a special education teacher, a legacy of patience and care that will continue for generations.

In February 2025, Amparo embraced her most cherished new role: Grandmother. She adored her grandson, Baby Rocky, spending countless hours singing to him and showering him with a new kind of grandmotherly devotion that she felt completed her life’s work of love. Her family will ensure that Rocky and the grandchildren to come are always reminded of the great love she continues to share as their guardian angel.

“Que los ángeles te acompañen al paraíso, y que desde tu hogar en el cielo seas el ángel que nos siga iluminando el camino.”

The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to their dearest family members and friends who accompanied them through this journey. Amparo was humbled by the outpouring of love.

She was preceded in eternal rest by her parents, Genaro Santos and Amparo Santos, brothers Rodolfo Santos and Genaro Santos, Jr., sister Dora Elsa Santos, and nephew Robert Santos, among other loving relatives.

She is survived and cherished by her devoted husband, Hector Cerón; her daughters, Natalie Cerón Cuellar (Ricardo A. Cuellar), Jazmine Cerón Hilscher (Tyson Hilscher), and favorite son, Hector J. Cerón; her beloved grandson, Rocky (Ricardo Ociel Cuellar); siblings Rosa Idalia (Francsico) Sanchez, Jose Angel (Rosa) Santos, Venancio Santos, and a wide circle of family and friends who will miss her wit and her warmth.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
