Alma Villarreal Cuellar passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

Alma Villarreal Cuellar dedicated her life to faith, family, and service. A devout Catholic, Alma lived with deep compassion and unwavering generosity, always putting others before herself. She shared 57 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, whom she met during her 38-year career with Laredo Independent School District a workplace that became the beginning of a lifelong love story. Alma was a pillar of strength and warmth to all who knew her. She was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and a loving aunt whose nurturing spirit touched generations. Her legacy is one of kindness, commitment, and enduring love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel M. and Sofia I. Villarreal; her brother, Manuel Mateo Villarreal.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband Valentin Jorge Cuellar; her daughters, Claudia (Rolando) Ramon, Cordelia S. (Homero Dominguez) Cuellar, and Crisela C. (Gilberto) Garcia; grandchildren, Rolando Valentin Ramon, Cristina Alma Ramon, Ricardo Moises Ramon, Gerardo Evan (Alexa) Gutierrez, Marcela Alexandra Gutierrez, Carolina Sofia Garcia, Gilberto Horacio Garcia, and Cordelia Eliza Garcia; great-grandson, Elijah M. Gutierrez; her sisters, Minerva (†Refugio) Romo, Maria Cristina (†Alberto) Martinez, and Irma (Rodolfo) Villarreal; her sister-in-law, Rebecca Villarreal; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Friday evening, July 4, 2025 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday morning, July 5, 2025 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

The family is deeply grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Brooke Army Medical Center for their dedication and compassion in caring for Alma V. Cuellar.
