Alicia G. Laurel

March 30, 1935 – October 18, 2025

Alicia G. Laurel, 90, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Saturday, October 18, 2025. She passed away peacefully, leaving behind a profound legacy.

Born in Laredo, Texas, on March 30, 1935, to Herlinda and Jose Gallegos, Alicia began her journey here, graduating from Martin High School. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Adolfo Laurel, Jr. She married him, dedicated herself to starting a family, and then embarked on a fulfilling career. Alicia embodied the roles of a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and sister.

Alicia’s professional life saw her contribute her talents to her early years at JCPenney, then moved to Laredo National Bank, and ultimately retired as an Office Manager at Kmart. Giving back to her community was a priority for Alicia, and she graciously volunteered her time and energy to the Ladies LULAC Council 690 & 618 and the Laredo Regional Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary.

Alicia was the heart and soul of her family, always ready for a great celebration. She found immense happiness in hosting lively family parties in her beautiful backyard, a space she poured her love into. She loved being outside, meticulously tending to her yard and plants. Her life was set to a wonderful rhythm, fueled by a deep love for music and dancing. Two special passions were her travels, which often took her to Las Vegas, Kickapoo, Hawaii, Mexico, and her love for preserving memories, frequently reminiscing on family events by watching recorded videos of their gatherings.

Alicia has been reunited in eternal life with her beloved husband, Adolfo Laurel, Jr.; her parents, Jose Maria and Herlinda Gallegos; her brothers, Humberto (Concepcion) Gallegos, Romeo (Olga Nella) Gallegos, and Jose Gallegos; and her sisters, Maria (Alberto) Saldivar and Olga (Alberto) Gonzalez.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving children, Adolfo (Julie) Laurel III, Adriana Belinda (Jose Luis) Rodriguez, and Veronica (Benjamin) Garcia. She will be profoundly missed by her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy, Vanessa (Javier) Reyner, Daniella (Robert) Icenogle, Elizabeth (Sean) Ali, William Laurel, Corey Franklin, and Jessica (Timothy) Villa. Alicia’s beautiful spirit lives on through her six great-grandchildren, Lillian Reyner, Olivia Reyner, Liam Ali, Roman Ali, Caroline Icenogle, and Elliott Villa. Alicia is also survived by her dear sister, Estella (Ignacio†) Perez and Minerva (Jack) Reeves, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other loved relatives, and friends.
