Le precedio en muerte su padre, Lucio Benavides, y su hermana, Rosa Benavides.
Le sobreviven su esposa, Mara de los Angeles Benavides; hija e hijo, Marta Dalia (Guadalupe III) Ceja y Agustn (Rosa) Benavides, Jr.; nietos, Khloe Ceja, Alexis Benavides, Alberto B. y Aleida Zavala y Joselyn (Gerardo Ruiz, Jr.) Delgado; bisnieto, Gerardo Ruiz, III; su madre, Hortencia Benavides, y hermana Mara Isabel (Sergio) Gonzalez.
