Adolfo E. Puig

November 18, 1931 — May 22, 2026

Laredo, Texas

It is with heartfelt sadness that our beloved father, Adolfo Esteban Puig, 94, was peacefully called home to join the Lord in His heavenly kingdom, on May 22, 2026, He passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on November 18, 1931, in Laredo, Texas, Adolfo was the son of Luis F. Puig and Dora Flores Puig. He grew up learning the values of faith, hard work, perseverance, and devotion to family—principles that would guide him throughout his life.

Adolfo attended St. Augustine Catholic School and St. Edward's University. He lived an incredibly blessed and full life, which he shared with his greatest love, his wife of 68 years, Aida Rocha Puig. They married on June 21, 1958, and have been together from that day forward, and he lived with the quiet certainty that he had found the love of his life.

Adolfo and Aida shared a remarkable life together; they built a life rooted in faith, commitment, and family. His family was his greatest source of pride, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

A lifelong rancher, Adolfo dedicated his life to San Juan Ranch, working alongside his father from an early age and helping build it into what it is today. The ranch was more than his livelihood—it was his passion, his legacy, and a reflection of the dedication and work ethic that defined him. Through decades of hard work, he instilled in his family the importance of commitment, integrity, and respect for the land.

A man of deep Catholic faith, Adolfo lived with humility, strength, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He was known for his strong character, wisdom, and steadfast presence, but those closest to him also knew his gentle heart, kindness, and generous spirit.

Adolfo found joy in life’s simple pleasures. A true Cowboy at heart, he loved spending time with family, watching classic Western films, wearing his favorite Stetson cowboy hat, and enjoying sweets. He was a loyal fan of both the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. He also loved to dance, especially to his favorite song “New York, New York” and to classic western music. Whether at family celebrations, weddings, or community gatherings, he never passed up the opportunity to enjoy music and share a dance.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Luis F. and Dora Flores Puig; siblings Luis F. (Alicia Prieto) Puig Jr., Emily Dora Puig (Antonio) Prieto, Mary Lou Puig Prieto, and stepmother Margarita “Tita” Garcia Puig.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Aida; his children, Adolph Jr.(Jeannette), Michael (Aida), Lawrence (Sandra), Georgianna, and Dora (Ricardo Jr) Garcia; his twelve grandchildren: Dr. Madeleine F. Puig, Adolph E. (Victoria) Puig III, Michael J. Puig, Christopher J. (Anna Laura) Puig, Laura E. Puig, Megan D. Puig, Andria L. Puig, Jessica L. Garcia, Gerardo L. Garcia, Daniel A. Garcia, Rebecca N. Garcia (fiancé Bryce Turner), Vanessa E. Garcia, great grandchild Lucas E. Puig, stepbrother Robert “Butch” (Mitsue) Peck, brother-in-law Dr. Elias Prieto and many extended family members and friends whose lives were forever touched by his love, guidance, and example.

Adolfo’s legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the ranch he helped build, and the countless lives he influenced throughout his remarkable 94 years. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
