Adela Paez Gutierrez

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Adela Paez Gutierrez, who departed from this world on August 24, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on February 11, 1943, Adela was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend to many. Mrs. Gutierrez dedicated her life to education, serving as a passionate educator for 45 years. Her expertise in AP Spanish, Language Arts, and Culinary Arts enriched the lives of countless students. Additionally, for over three decades, she imparted the beauty and grace of Ballet Folklorico at Christen Middle School, Lamar Middle School, and Martin High School, leaving an indelible mark on future generations. Her legacy of wisdom, strength, and compassion will continue to guide our decisions and actions for the rest of our lives. Her influence will reverberate through the lives she touched, and her lessons will continue to guide those fortunate enough to have known her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luis S. Gutierrez; parents, Reynaldo Paez and Amanda Mascorro Paez.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Reynaldo Gutierrez, Rosalinda (Crisoforo) Olivares, Lupita Gutierrez; grandchildren, Robert (Kathleen) Pena, Amanda (Alonso) Quimbar, Adelita (Jesus) Aguilera, Luis Alberto Tellez, Reynaldo Reyes Olivares, Gema Santamaria, Kelly Gutierrez, Leonel Santamaria, Dante Santamaria, Frances Olivares; great-grandchildren, Amado Alonso Quimbar, McKenzie Ava Aguilera, and Jesus Daniel Olivares; as well as other relatives, and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, August 29, 2025. The mass times remain pending.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Laredo City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Reynaldo Gutierrez, Roberto Pena, Reynaldo Olivares, Crisoforo Olivares, Luis Alberto Tellez, Alonso Quimbar, Jesus Aguilera, and Dante Santamaria.
